“Schoolteacher
Isola Kennedy, while relaxing beside Coyote Creek near the town of Morgan
Hill [California], saw a lioness jump from the bank and attack a boy wading
in the stream. According to the Morgan Hill Times, 'Miss Kennedy ran
to his assistance, when the animal jumped upon her, knocking her down.' For
fifteen minutes, Kennedy wrestled the lion—which chewed off her left ear and
mangled her left arm while she attempted to stab the cat with a large
hatpin—until a man arrived with a rifle and shot the cougar.” |
