“[T]he dead body of a mountain lion [was] splayed on a red tarpaulin on the concrete floor.  Tom stooped to examine the beast, which displayed a bullet wound in its left midsection, burgundy staining the tawny fur.  Rigor mortis held the lion’s jaws shut....  The cougar, an adult male, probably two to three years old, measured four feet from nose to rump and weighed about a hundred pounds.”
